We love our new addition. This is a very loving breeder. My husband and I drove to their residence, and were welcomed into their lovely courtyard. Our particular pup was a bit stand -offish at first towards us. We were given no time limit to see if our little guy would warm up to us, we were even given a beverage in the hot AZ weather while we played with the little guy. He came out of his shell, and has been nothing but a loving companion ever since. The History of the Dachshunds and the many different colors and patterns.

Dachshunds are affectionate, loyal, intelligent dogs that are often surprisingly bold for their size. Their distinctive long bodies and short legs result from a genetic trait known as chondrodysplasia, which gives them a low-to-the-ground appearance. Originating in Germany, the breed was developed to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Dachshunds come in three coat varieties: smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired. They are recognized in a wide range of colors and patterns, including red, black and tan, chocolate and tan, cream, dapple, brindle, piebald, and various combinations of these markings. Depending on how colors and patterns are classified, dachshunds can have dozens of unique appearances. Among the most common and recognizable are the rich deep-red coat and the classic black-and-tan coloration. In black-and-tan dachshunds, the tan markings typically appear above the eyes, on the muzzle, chest, feet, and beneath the tail.
